A wedding at Devils Thumb Ranch, Tabernash CO

Devils Thumb Ranch, Tabernash Colorado, Destination Wedding
A couple of months ago I had the opportunity to shoot a destination wedding at the Devils Thumb Ranch & Resort in Tabernash Colorado. Destination weddings are always fun to do because you have the opportunity to shoot somewhere you’ve never been

and capture images you simply couldn’t capture close to home, of course when the destination is a place like the Devils Thumb Ranch it just makes your job that much easier. Devils Thumb Ranch is a 5000 acre ranch located in the Rocky Mountains just 1 hour

west of Denver, it offers brides and grooms all of the amenities of a world class resort yet maintains a uniquely rustic feel. While it offers vacationers a wealth of outdoor activities to choose from like horseback riding, hiking, fishing, and skiing in the winter what

makes this a special place to be married is the fact that you don’t feel like you’re getting married at a resort, in fact the entire wedding felt like it was out in the mountains miles from anywhere. The bride got ready in one of the ridge top cabins overlooking

the valley and resort below and we actually did the “first look” on the steps of the cabin. From there we went to a meadow for a couple of quick portraits with the bride and groom and then on to the ceremony site which the Devils Thumb Ranch has set up

near the Broad Axe Barn which acts as the reception site for most of the weddings there. This location is a photographers dream because the wedding ceremony looks out over an expansive meadow which covers the valley that runs up towards thedevils thumb portraits, bride and groom, wedding Colorado

mountains. You simply could not find a more peaceful or beautiful place to get married and whats most amazing is the fact that you’re just an hour from Denver!

After the wedding ceremony ended we took a few more pictures with the bride and groom as well as their bridal party before heading to the barn for the reception. The Broad Axe Barn is as simple as it is beautiful and was the perfect setting for an incredible night of dancing and celebration.

All in all it was one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever photographed and the pictures here are just the smallest sampling of pictures captured that day, it was almost impossible to narrow them down enough to fit it all on one blog post and I feel like I’ve left so many favorites out.

I just hope I have the opportunity to shoot another wedding at the Devils Thumb Ranch in the future so that I have an excuse to share even more beautiful pictures from this amazing place. Thank you Dave & Jessica for allowing me to be a part of this
