Brandon & Kira’s wedding photos on the beach in Saint Joseph Michigan were AWESOME!! Their wedding and reception were held at the Boulevard Inn at the top of the bluff in downtown Saint Joseph which is so close to the beach they were able to walk
down to Lake Michigan after the reception for some wedding pictures with their bridal party at sunset. If you’re here in Southwest Michigan you’ll know what I’m talking about when I say we’ve had a pretty crazy summer weather wise and today was no
exception, you’d think August would provide you with a nice hot day at the beach but this was not the case for this wedding. We had to deal with gusts of 20-30 mph in the afternoon and the evening wasn’t too much better. About the only thing that
worked out was the fact that the rain held off and Brandon and Kira were able to get married outside without getting themselves or their guests wet! Of course we weren’t complaining about the weather when we got to the beach and found out we wouldn’t
have a sunset but we would have some pretty amazing clouds for the pictures. We had a blast running up and down the beach taking pictures and the bride and groom even got a little wet! I must point out that if you’re considering getting married close to
the beach and you want some amazing wedding pictures with the sunset, water, or lighthouse as a backdrop you would do well to keep a couple of things in mind. First, give yourselves enough time to enjoy your time on the beach with the wedding party,
while it IS possible to go to the beach and get some very nice portraits in just a few minutes you’ll get much nicer photos as well as a wider variety if you you aren’t rushing the entire time. The second point is to tell your bridal party what to expect, possibly have
them bring flip flops for the beach and set the expectation that we’re going to walk all the way down to the lake, or wherever you want your beach photos, and hopefully if they’re prepared and know how important the photos are to you they’ll be up for anything we throw at them.
Finally do what Brandon and Kira did and just have FUN!!!
After we wrapped up all the wedding pictures on the beach the bridal party walked back up to the Boulevard Inn where they cleaned up before we all went bar hopping… what a night!!!
Congratulations to Kira & Brandon and thanks for allowing me to be there to capture all the fun! I loved every minute of it!
