Curtain Call | A beautiful way to Trash the Dress

I must start this post by giving a friend and fellow photographer credit for coming up with this fantastic idea, Leda of LVL Photography approached me a few months ago to see if I would be interested in taking part in a Curtain Call shoot she was

planning with Stella Event Design. Basically a Curtain Call is photo shoot for a bride or bride & groom that takes place after the wedding day. It’s similar to what is popularly referred to as a “trash the dress” shoot, but rather than focusing on trashing the wedding dress we focus on taking incredible pictures of the bride in her wedding gown for the last time.

The beautiful thing about bridal portraits after the wedding is that there’s no pressure, no time constraints, and no stress from the wedding day! The shoot is all about having fun, looking beautiful, and capturing the pictures you could only dream of doing on your wedding day! We get a lot of questions about who a shoot like this is really for and the answer honestly is that everyone is welcome…

It doesn’t matter who shot your wedding or how long ago you got married! If you enjoy photography, love beautiful pictures, and want to have fun feeling like a model in your wedding dress one last time this is the perfect opportunity for you!

Of course there are more practical reasons for wanting a Curtain Call shoot, for instance you simply didn’t have time to do a photo walk on your wedding day, it rained and you couldn’t go outside for pictures, or you want to do something crazy and really get creative with the pictures… we aren’t out to trash the dress but we won’t stop you from trying if that’s what you want!! =)

Many thanks to David at The Veranda at the Whitcomb in Saint Joesph Mi for allowing us to stage the event there, Salon 1341 in Stevensville Mi for doing the brides hair, and Kim at All Star Productions for doing video of the shoot!

If you’d love to put your dress on one last time and have a blast being photographed by some amazing photographers we’ve got a marathon Curtain Call event planned for August 30th, contact Stella Event Design for details, pricing, and availability!

I would also like to thank the incredible bride and groom who joined us just 1 week after their wedding. Dan and Lisa where an amazing couple to work with and a lot of fun to take pictures of. Thanks for all your patience, energy, and willingness to go anywhere and do anything, I hope you love the pictures as much as we do!
